On Thursday November 28, the Estonian e-Residency program celebrated its 10th anniversary. As we have two of the e-Resicency envoys working for our organisation, ImpactBuilders was present. The story of e-Residency could have been one of our stories – creating something great out of nothing. When the original inventors (see picture) launched their initial out-of-the-box idea, they hardly had any fans. However, in a short time, they were able to align several of the government departments to create the first version of the e-Residency program in 2014. Most Estonians did not see any benefit in creating this program that was intended to create a global virtual borderless community. Today, Estonia reaps the benefits of that initial idea. It became known far outside their borders as the most digital nation, and the e-Residency program with the e-Residency card is definitely their flagship program.
