Patrick De Baets is the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture at the University of Ghent (Belgium). As a mechanical engineer, he investigates friction and wear in machinery and teaches students the beauty of machines and mechanical constructions. At the same time, he serves as a board chairman of one of the leading hospitals in Flanders, showcasing his commitment to uplifting fellow human beings to a higher level.
