Remote Work Europe and ImpactBuilders share a vision for the Future of Work

The international organisation Remote Work Europe wants to help both companies and individuals reap the benefits of location-independent working. ImpactBuilders wants to introduce a new business DNA in Europe, that builds on a motivated workforce. It is clear that one plus one can and will be more than two.

Today, Remote Work Europe (RW Europe) launches their premium community Remote Work Europe Connected to help everyone move along their entrepreneurial journey. The organisation is an initiative of Maya Middlemiss, who has written a series of books on Happy Healthy Homeworking and remote team leadership, following a multi-decade remote work career. She also hosts “the Future is Freelance” podcast. Initially, Maya had been remote working in London, before she moved to Spain. Maya now lives in Valencia and offers communications services for clients all over the world.

Remote work is not just for freelancers

Communications services, of course, are one of the typical jobs that can easily be outsourced to remote workers, along with many creative and knowledge-based roles. “Remote and home working are indeed the norm in this industry for many decades already. But today more and more other functions are becoming very attractive for remote working,” explains Maya. “Nowadays, it is not only the freelance jobs, but entire departments of large corporations that are switching to remote work. This includes full-time payrolled employees as well as contractors, along with a diverse blend in between.  Everyone is welcome in Remote Work Europe Connected, and we aim to help everyone explore and find their perfect spot along that blended spectrum, that is the future of work today.”

Workers might be ready, but business is playing catch-up

“In recent years, many individuals have enjoyed benefits of home working,” says Maya. “However, lots of employers are still struggling with how to organize this new way of working. And, not everybody is ready to accept remote working as their new standard way of working. Some people are even glad to drive through the morning commute back into a central office, because they are missing the social contacts.  What really matters is choice, and people being able to work where they know they are happiest and most productive. We help people lean in to their preference by taking control of their careers and skills and goals, whatever that looks like to them.”

Remote Working Europe to the rescue

In order for companies and individuals to get used to remote working, and start to really create a win-win for both sides, Maya took the initiative to create Remote Work Europe. On the website, both remote workers and employers find tips on how to optimally co-work remotely, with the objective of empowering genuine choice and self determination. “We are happy to advise and consult with companies on how to do remote work well,” adds Maya. “But our focus will always be on the individual and helping them to unlock the work-lifestyle which suits them best of all… from employee-preneur to total independence. There’s room for everyone in remote work.”

In line with the new DNA of ImpactBuilders

ImpactBuilders and their community of ImpactEnthusiasts want to introduce a new business DNA in Europe. “We want to have motivated collaborators add value to clients, and stretch that client value into a society impact,” explains founder Jan Lagast. “And, we would like to foster entrepreneurship, better anchor companies in Europe, and ensure R&D is geared towards improving the lives of European citizens.” When remote working works, that is of course 100% in line with the DNA intentions of ImpactBuilders.
