A new venture built on the foundation of a trusted time-tracking tool
One of the assignments in the ImpactBuilders Business Studio is to make a new business based on one of the first businesses and apps designed and developed by Jan Lagast (now visionary architect at the studio) and Joris Debonnet (core developer). That business is FunkyTime.
FunkyTime has been a trusted time and expense tracking tool since 2009, serving engineers, architects, and consultants whose workdays are constantly reshaped by meetings and shifting agendas. With a stable client base, it has built a reputation for reliability, supporting knowledge workers who want to focus on their core activities, instead of admin.
Estonia: a hub of AI expertise
The world is changing fast with the rise of artificial intelligence. FunkyTime’s shareholders and board see its transformative potential. However, they also see that AI is still in an experimental phase. They would like to develop useful and trustworthy AI agents for their clients.
Over the last year, Estonia has gained a substantial advantage in AI. Even primary school students have a course about AI. To be able to have all European engineering firms benefit from this advanced expertise, FunkyTime has set up a daughter company in Estonia, FunkyTime OÜ.
FunkyTime’s most important clients are in Flanders. The region is home to some of Europe’s strongest engineering and consultancy firms and lies at the heart of the continent’s economic engine. These firms are driven by pragmatism: no fluffy promises, just tangible results. That’s why FunkyTime OÜ’s first services will focus on AI experimentation — structured, pragmatic exploration guided by leading Estonian expertise.
